Birds & Butterflies

The Mountain Rose Inn is the perfect destination for a bird watching vacation.

With its spacious porches, creek-side hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and benches, there is always a front-row seat at our Virginia bed and breakfast for watching the birds and butterflies as they go about their daily activities. The Inn has many bird feeders, hummingbird sippers, birdhouses, and bathing areas on the property. We enjoy the birds as much as our guests do and encourage birds to feed and live here on the property. They are fascinating creatures and ones that we are always delighted to have as guests!

According to our local ornithology expert, early migrants show up as soon as early March and hummers by early April. The last week in April or the first week of May is the best time to see maximum numbers of spring migrants (warblers, vireos, grosbeaks, thrushes) in this area.

Birds and Butterflies Seen at the Inn

Below is a gallery of some of the birds, butterflies, and other creatures spotted on the Inn's property. If you would like, you can view a list of the birds seen at the Mountain Rose Inn. Enjoy and then come see them for yourself!
